The Asia Cup 2023 has been good to watch once rain slightly relented in Sri Lanka as India registered back-to-back wins against Pakistan by 228 runs and against Sri Lanka by 41 runs.  As a result, the Men in Blue were through to the final. The Pakistan vs Sri Lanka game became a virtual quarterfinal. On another note, Wasim Akram revealed a fascinating piece of news concerning team director Mickey Arthur.

“Our team director is in Derbyshire and tweeting about county games instead of being here with the Pakistani team in the Asia Cup”. Wasim Akram said in an interaction with Star Sports. Arthur was appointed as team director for Pakistan and was conducting operations remotely as he also had his commitments with County Cricket for Derbyshire.

Pakistan suffered a 228-run defeat against India in Asia Cup 2023

Pakistan were in great form when they played their games at home. The Men in Green registered a 238-run win against Nepal. Then in the Super Fours, they beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets. But it all came crashing down for them when India beat them by 228 runs and this meant Pakistan’s net-run rate took a severe dent.

Sri Lanka on the other hand, have been very good on home turf despite the absence of several key players. When it comes to Pakistan they were without Haris Rauf’s services in the game against India because he had left-flank discomfort and Naseem Shah did not come out to bat in the second innings of that game.
Pakistan announced Zaman Khan and Mohammad Wasim as replacements for the two pacers. The Men in Green have also been playing cricket continuously. They have played a series against New Zealand at home, a Test series against Sri Lanka, and then played the Lanka Premier League (LPL). The Men in Green then had a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan before coming into the continental tournament.
