‘Jaisa khela hai aaj poori team ko doubtful hona chahiye’ – Fans react as Haris Rauf, Naseem Rauf doubtful for Asia Cup 2023 remainder

Pakistan pacers Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf are now doubtful for the remainder of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The former got injured in the dying moments of India’s innings on September 11. On the other hand, Rauf sustained pulled an oblique muscle during the rain delay ahead of the reserve day (Sep 11). The game restarted at around 4:40 IST and the Lahore Qalandars player was ruled out of the game.

On the other hand, Shah bowled close to 10 overs. Before he could complete his spell, he injured his shoulder. His last over was completed by Iftikhar Ahmed. Notably, both Rauf and Shah didn’t come out to bat as the team lost by 228 runs, their record defeat against India. Now, the likes of Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan have called as cover ahead of their must-win game against Sri Lanka.

Also, another concern for the Green Brigade is that Rauf and Shah might not play even in the final if they manage to play the summit clash.

This is only a precautionary measure for Haris Rauf and Naseen Shah: PCB

In a statement issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board, the duo have been rested only as a precautionary measure, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. Even though Pakistan has yet to announce its preliminary squad for the ODI World Cup 2023, they are set to be part of the tournament.

“This is only a precautionary measure keeping in mind the fitness and well-being of the players ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup next month,” a PCB media statement said. “Haris and Naseem will continue to remain under the observation of the team’s medical panel. The team management will only request replacement from the ACC technical committee if Naseem or Haris are ruled out for the next seven days.”

Talking about the game, India amassed 356/2, starting from 147/2 in 24.1 overs. The likes of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul scored an unbeaten hundred each. In reply, Pakistan got all-out on 128, losing the game by 228 runs.
