India and West Indies clashed against each other in the 4the match of the ongoing 5-match T20I series at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Florida on Saturday, August 12. Indian cricket team clinched a convincing victory by 9 wickets and leveled the series by 2-2.

Talking about the match, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. Windies’ opener Kyle Mayers started with some big shots but got dismissed by Arshdeep Singh in the 2nd over of the innings. Brandon King was joined by Shai Hope and both continued to play aggressively in the powerplay, however, King also departed back to the pavilion in the 6th over.

Windies’ star performer of the series so far Nicholas Pooran also failed to provide anything to the scoreboard as Kuldeep Yadav dismissed him on the score of just 1 run. However, the chinaman didn’t stop and got the wicket of the Caribbean skipper Rovman Powell in the same over.

Brilliant batting performance by Indian openers

With the help of a 49-run stand for the 5th wicket between Shimron Hetmyer and Hope, Windies achieved a respectable total of 178 runs. Hope scored 45 runs while Hetmyer played a brilliant knock of 61 runs off just 39 balls which included 3 fours and 4 sixes. Arshdeep and Kuldeep were the star bowlers for India as the former picked up 3 wickets while the leg-spinner took 2 wickets.

Chasing the target, India’s young openers Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal took the entire thing on their shoulders and stitched a massive 195-run partnership for the first wicket. Gill departed after scoring 77 runs off just 47 balls which included 3 fours and 5 sixes. However, Jaiswal remained unbeaten on the score of 84 runs which came off just 51 balls. Surprisingly this was Jaiwal’s only 2nd T20I match of his career.

The massive opening stand between the two youngsters helped the team achieve the target with 18 balls to spare. Both teams will square off in the final and decider match of the series on Sunday, August 13 on the same ground.
