The star-studded Celebrity Cricket League, originally intended to boost the morale of the Bangladesh cricket team before the upcoming World Cup, took an unexpected turn when a violent brawl erupted during a game, resulting in six celebrities being hospitalized with various injuries.

The incident occurred during a group cricket match between filmmakers Mostafa Kamal Raz and Dipankar Dipon when fights broke out. Despite efforts to restore order, tensions escalated after the match on the night of September 29th, leading to heated confrontations involving players from both teams. Actress Raj Ripa made serious accusations of physical assault against Mostafa Kamal Raz and actor Sariful Razz during the post-match chaos.

The severity of the clashes became apparent as the injured players were rushed to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation in the capital. Joy Chowdhury, a player on Dipankar Dipon’s team, disclosed that Raz had also threatened actor Manoj Pramanik.

While Dipankar Dipon and the event organizers promised an official statement addressing the unfolding issues, Mostafa Kamal Raz and his team members left the venue without making any comments on the allegations.

The tournament got cancelled entirely

In the actual game, Mostafa Kamal Raz’s team won the toss and scored an impressive total of 119 runs in six overs. Despite a spirited effort in the chase, Dipankar Dipon’s team fell short, managing to score only 112 runs within the allotted six overs, resulting in a 7-run loss.

The ‘Celebrity Cricket League,’ which showcases stars from Bangladesh’s entertainment industry, began on September 28th at the Mirpur Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium and is scheduled to conclude today. This unique event features male and female celebrities divided into eight teams, with prominent figures such as Giasuddin Selim, Salahuddin Lavlu, Chayanika Chowdhury, Shihab Shaheen, and others leading the teams.

While the primary goal of the league was to rally support for the Bangladesh cricket team in the ODI World Cup, it has encountered an unexpected challenge in the form of on-field altercations and serious allegations. What was intended to be a unifying spectacle for celebrities supporting the national team has instead become a platform for unforeseen drama, both on and off the cricket field.
