Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid were seen discussing something during the practice session ahead of the first Test against SA. The coach and the star player were seen watching the net session of the players. From the looks of it, the two seemed to be talking about the pitch and the playing conditions that could potentially be against them in the first Test of the series.

The Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal were seen batting in the nets. Likewise, Ravindra Jadeja was seen bowling to them in the nets. Virat and Dravid observed them practice and continued the talks. The match will happen at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, which is known as a fortress of the home side. India won the Test at the venue the last time they toured.

The pitch for the first Test is out and it seems to be a green wicket with some good bounce and pace on it for the pacers. Seam bowlers are likely to dominate in the match, as they can extract something out of the pitch. Batters would have to be wary of the bounce that might be uneven. Indian batters will have a tough time ahead of them in the entire series.

Focus on South African pacers

Ahead of the Test series, the focus has been on the pacers of the South African team. The likes of Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada returned to the Test side of the Proteas for the match against India. The series is set to witness the two sides fighting for some crucial points up for grabs in the third cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC). India is yet to win a Test series on the South African soil.

While South Africa got the services of their key pacers, they would not be happy with the inability of Anrich Nortje to be available for the series. The star pacer was injured during the ODI series against Australia in September and was ruled out of the ODI World Cup 2023. He will be not featuring in the Test series against India.
