The stadium buzzed with excitement as Sara’s presence graced the stands during India vs. Sri Lanka match on November 2. Sara was also spotted clapping and cheering whenever Gill hit a boundary. However, what caught the most attention was her reaction when Gill missed his well-deserved century by 8 runs. She was stunned to see Gill depart after scoring 92 runs, however, she appreciated his knock by giving a standing ovation.
Brilliant batting performance by Kohli and Gill
Interestingly, this is not the first when Sara has been spotted cheering for Gill in the stands. During, India’s match against Bangladesh, which was played in Pune, the 26-year-old attended the match to extend her support for the Men in Blue and of course for Gill as well.
Talking about the match, India were asked to bat first, however, they didn’t start well as they lost their in-form opener and skipper Rohit Sharma in the very first over of the match. But it was the 189-run stand between the star duo Virat Kohli and Gill which set the foundation for a big total.
Both batted brilliantly from the start in the middle overs while keeping the impressive run-rate as well. However, neither of them could smash a century as Gill departed on 92 runs while Kohli dismissed for 88 runs. India are currently 340/6 in 48 overs at the time of writing.
