MS Dhoni, the former iconic captain of India, retired from international cricket in 2020. Despite this, he remained active in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Earlier this year, he achieved his fifth IPL title, a remarkable feat in this lucrative tournament.

Dhoni sustained a knee injury during IPL 2023 but despite persistent knee issues, Dhoni displayed incredible resilience, not missing a single game for CSK. While his contributions with the bat were modest, Dhoni’s captaincy was exceptional. He masterfully guided his team to victory in a thrilling final against the Gujarat Titans, cementing his status as a legendary wicketkeeper-batter.

However, now, the anticipation among CSK fans for confirmation of Dhoni’s leadership in the upcoming 2024 IPL season has been intense since he underwent knee surgery earlier this year. Meanwhile, during a promotional event, the star wicketkeeper-batter has dropped a significant hint regarding his future in IPL, shedding light on his knee surgery.

Watch the video here:

“I am trying my best. Everyone knows I had surgery on my left knee. The doctor said it will be normal by November, so if everything goes right, you will definitely see me playing in the IPL 2024. Or else, I will be watching with the fans,” he said.

It would be a gift for the fans to see me play one more season: MS Dhoni

Previously, following his captaincy of CSK to victory in IPL 2023, Thalla expressed his desire to participate in another season, touched by the immense love and support he received throughout the year. He expressed that the overwhelming affection he received from fans during the 16th edition justified giving them another season to witness his performance.

“Circumstantially, it’s the best time to announce retirement. The easy thing for me is to say is thank you and retire. But the amount of love I have received from CSK fans, it would be a gift for them to (see me) play one more season,” he said earlier this year.
