India were struggling to get going in the match when KL Rahul entered the middle. He was in when India was 92/4 and soon saw two of his partners return to the pavilion. The score was 121/6 and India needed to build some partnership in the middle. The wicket was increasingly getting difficult to bat on and Rahul took the onus on himself to stabilize the innings.

He left the ball well that threatened to take the outside edge of the willow. At the same time, he defended the balls well that were targeted into the line of stumps. It was a good display of defensive batting to start the innings. Later on, Rahul went on to play some exquisite shots to put bowlers under pressure, as India ended the day with a decent score of 208/8.

Marco Jansen sledges KL Rahul

During KL Rahul’s innings in the middle, Marco Jansen was operating as a bowler. The way Rahul batted in the difficult phase did not go well with the left-arm pacer. After being frustrated with the way Rahul batted, Marco Jansen tried to get into the head of the batter. The youngster tried to sledge Rahul in order to force the WK batter to make mistakes.

Rahul did not want to fall into the trap of Jansen. As the latter pointed at the way Rahul was batting, the Indian WK batter just smiled and frustrated the bowler a lot more. It was a perfect reply from Rahul, as he did not end up losing his concentration and in fact forced errors from the left-arm pacer, who ended up missing his lengths in the middle.
