“That’s what you get in the south of India, especially Chennai. (On the last six) I hit it too well, I just calculated how to get to a 100 in the end. The only way was a four and a six, but no qualms on not getting to that hundred.” Rahul said in the post-match presentation.

KL Rahul will hope to carry this form for the entire World Cup

While he couldn’t reach three figures, his contribution played a pivotal role in India’s triumph, making him a standout performer of the match. His innings was a masterclass in technique and composure, anchoring the Indian innings and guiding his team to a crucial victory.

Scoring a remarkable 97 runs, he showcased his impeccable skills as a batsman. Despite the personal disappointment, he can take solace in the fact that his efforts were instrumental in securing a significant victory for India on the grand stage of the ODI World Cup 2023

He was accompanied by Kohli who also missed his century by 15 runs, however, both stitched a match-winning 165-run stand for the 4th wicket and sealed the victory for the team.
