In the 10th game of the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024 (PSL), defending champions, Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings locked horns. These cities in Pakistan have had a great rivalry over the years. Meanwhile, in the game, the defending champions batted first after losing the toss. They had a poor start as they lost three wickets for 54 runs. Sahibzada Farhan, who has been an in-form player, batted through the innings.

Meanwhile, in the 13th over, Jahandad Khan, who has been one of the discoveries of the ongoing season, played a Tennis shot towards the long-off. In most cases, that shot would have gone for a six. However, former West Indies skipper Keiron Pollard was stationed at one of the high-traffic areas of white-ball cricket. He ensured that the batter was sent back to the pavilion.

Lahore Qalandars continues to remain winless in the ninth season

The last time LQ lost their first four games of a PSL season, was the 2018 season, won by Islamabad United. In that season, the 2021 winners Multan Sultans were introduced. Meanwhile, in the season 3, the Qalandars lost their first six games out of the 10 league games. With this, the team finished last as they managed only three wins in the season. In the last two seasons, since the appointment of Shaheen Afridi as their new skipper, the team went on to win their maiden title in 2022, followed by their defense in 2023.

This time around, their title defense hasn’t gotten to an ideal start as they have lost four games on the trot to begin with. They now need to win every game and if the opportunity arrives, they need to improve their Net Run Rate. In the game against Karachi Kings on Saturday, they lost by two wickets in a last-ball thriller.
