WATCH: Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan calls out DRS’ shortcomings after loss against Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2024

Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan has expressed his disappointment over the DRS call during their game against Quetta Gladiators. In the eighth game of the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024 (PSL), both former champions took on each other. Batting first, the two-time winners had a decent start but failed to capitalize. After being 69/1 in nine overs, the team crumbled and managed only 138/9 at the end of the innings.

In reply, the 2019 winners, Gladiators had a poor start as they lost four wickets for 54 runs despite Jason Roy’s cameo. In the 11th over, Rilee Rossouw survived a DRS call although the replays showed the ball was hitting outside the off-stumps marginally the DRS showed the ball’s impact was different from the real-time replay.

After the game, ISLU skipper Khan expressed his disappointment over the same. He said that the DRS showed the ball trajectory which was different from the real-time.

Islamabad United suffers another loss in the ongoing season

In reply to United’s 138/9, the Purple Brigade had a poor start as they lost 54/4 including their former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed. Current skipper Rilee Rossouw and Sherfane Rutherford put together an important 62 runs for the sixth wicket. However, after this partnership was broken, the team ended up losing seven wickets for 127 runs. Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir hit two fours to make it easier for the team to chase down the target with three wickets in hand. They won the game with 10 balls left in the game. With this, the team has lost two games out of three, after starting the season with a win over the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars in the opening game.
