Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and Jamaica Tallawahs clashed against each other in the 22nd match of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 on Saturday, September 9 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. The Knight Riders displayed a wonderful all-round performance and defeated Jamaica by 7 wickets.

Meanwhile, a video is getting viral from the match in which Jamaica’s star allrounder Fabian Allen can be seen taking a stunning one-handed catch in the 2nd innings to send Knight Riders’ skipper Kieron Pollard back to the pavilion. Allen ran in from deep and dived forward to take a brilliant one-handed catch to his right. The ball was dipping on him and he did a tremendous job to pluck it.

Watch the video here:

Brilliant all-round performance by TKR

Talking about the match, having opted to bowl, Pollard assessed the conditions quite superbly and choked the visitors with spin in the first half. 11 consecutive overs of slow bowling and the Tallawahs struggled to break free, losing wickets in the process as well. Openers Brendon King and Amir Jangoo couldn’t do much and the middle-order batters also failed to provide anything.

But the arrival of Imad Wasim and the introduction of Pace saw them break free to an extent. Wasim’s 33-ball 62 was the cornerstone of their innings and he was involved in a couple of useful partnerships. Ali Khan and Sunil Narine’s brilliant bowling display helped TKR to restrict Jamaica on the score of 154 runs.

Chasing the target, Narine, batting at the top of the order, played a little cameo – struck three boundaries – and perished for a 6-ball 15. Martin Guptill and Nicholas Pooran played responsibly as TKR scored 47 runs in the powerplay. While the latter significantly upped the ante, the former was happy to knock it around and give the strike to the in-form batsman.

Pooran notched up a 33-ball fifty and it was Imad who broke the 80-run stand by removing the dangerous southpaw. Russell struck three sixes in an over off Imad and half-centurion Guptill hit the winning runs as Trinbago romped home with 16 balls to spare.
