‘Toss is not a factor’ – Rohit Sharma comes up with upbeat statement before semi-final showdown vs New Zealand
The ODI World Cup 2023 tournament is now boiled down to four teams. Hosts India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia. Rohit Sharma the Indian skipper walked into the press conference ahead of the biggest game of his cricketing career.
The 36-year-old showed no signs of anxiety or nervousness as he was asked several questions by the media. Team India qualified for the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the top of the table. The men in blue played nine games and won each of those with their last win coming against the Netherlands by 160 runs.
The game on Wednesday will be the 10th meeting between India and New Zealand in ODI World Cup history. The Kiwis have five wins compared to India’s four with the last win for India coming in Dharamshala.
Rohit Sharma exhibits confidence ahead of the big game –
Earlier in the day, Kane Williamson was addressing the media ahead of the 1st semi-finals in Mumbai. Later in the day, it was the turn of local lad Rohit Sharma the Indian skipper to face up to the volley of questions from the media.

Speaking about the role the toss could play Rohit Sharma said “I have played a lot of cricket here. The last four or five games won’t tell me what Wankhede is. So the toss is not a factor”. In the last few games at this venue, the teams batted first have put up a huge total on the board.
Speaking about the opponents, the Indian skipper said “Whenever we have come up against New Zealand, probably the most disciplined team. They play their cricket very smartly. They understand the mentality of their opposition so do we, they have been very consistent in playing semis and finals from 2015 onwards. We do understand what they bring to the table”
Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma were seen taking a closer look at the playing surface ahead of the game on Wednesday. The pitch bore a dry look as the Indian skipper could be seen doing shadow practice.
Rounding off the press conference, Rohit Sharma paid huge compliments to the mood in the dressing room. The Indian skipper said that they have done everything possible to keep the mood light and the environment inside the dressing room easy.
