India skipper Rohit Sharma has had a great tournament with the bat and as a captain in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. The team has managed to win all nine league games of the tournament as they beat the Netherlands. The Men In Blue will enter the semifinal against New Zealand unbeaten on November 15.   1. 500 runs in his second consecutive World Cup

In only his third ODI World Cup, the 36-year-old has reached 503 runs including one hundred and three fifties. Four years back, the right-hander was the highest run-getter in the tournament with 648 runs including five hundreds. In that tournament, the team lost the semifinal against New Zealand. Once again, the Men In Blue will play the same side on November 15 in the first semifinal.

2. Rohit Sharma becomes the first India skipper to win nine back-to-back games

In the 2003 ODI World Cup, the Asian side won eight games back-to-back after losing a league game against the eventual champions, Australia. This performance helped the team reach the final but lost once again to the Kangaroos. Meanwhile, in the ongoing ODI WC, they have won nine games and need to win two more to equal Ricky Ponting’s record in 2003 and 2007.

3. Rohit Sharma bowls an over for the first time after 2016

The Mumbai Indians skipper bowled an over for the first time after seven years. In the 48th over of the game, Teja Nidamanuru tried to slog but was caught at long-on off Sharma. Notably, the team used nine bowlers which happened for only the third time in Men’s ODI World Cup.
