‘Time to take revenge’ – Fans react to Kane Williamson’s statement ahead of first semi-final vs India on Wednesday

India and New Zealand are set to battle it out in the first Semi-Finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 on Wednesday. Kane Williamson and Rohit Sharma will walk into the cauldron called the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in front of a packed crowd.

Team India comes into the big game on the back of an unbeaten run during the group phase matches. One of the wins was against New Zealand in Dharamshala where Virat Kohli scored 95 runs with the bat.

Kane Williamson and his New Zealand began the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign with four successive wins. This was followed by four consecutive losses before winning the important game against Sri Lanka last week.

Kane Williamson speaks on the semi-final clash with India –

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was addressing the media ahead of the big game on Wednesday versus India. Mumbai is set to witness a blockbuster encounter as both teams play the 1^st semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.

The Kiwi Captain said “The underdog thing – from what you guys write I do not think it has changed too much, but that is fine you know, India have been exceptional”. Kane Williamson himself has played a handful of games for the Kiwis but has been impressive in each of his outings.

Further praising the Indian team, Kane Williamson said “India are one of the, if not the best team going around and  playing cricket matches that, but we all know as well on our day when we play our best cricket it certainly gives us the best chance and anything can happen”

The 33-year-old also said “Every team has a slightly different balance that they rely on and naturally with the injury to Hardik– it meant that their balance changed a little bit, but certainly did not change the outcome of what they are doing. India adjusted nicely, and you know our team tends to, or has done in the past anyway, played with a slightly different balance”

The Kiwi skipper rounded off by backing the strengths of both sides ahead of the huge game on Wednesday. Kane Williamson gave full marks to the Indian team for the way it has played during the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament so far.
