Top 3 players who can replace Tamim Iqbal as Bangladesh’s captain in ODI World Cup 2023
Bangladesh’s star opening batter Tamim Iqbal stepped down as Bangladesh’s captain in the ODI format. He has also pulled himself out from the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, however, the reason behind it is still unknown. Interestingly, Iqbal announced his retirement from international cricket but reversed his decision after a meeting with Bangladesh’s PM.
But the question arises about who will replace him as the captain of the limited-overs cricket for the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup 2023. The team may have multiple experienced players who have also led the team in past but their stint was not so successful. On that note, we will take a look at 3 players who can replace Iqbal as Bangladesh’s captain for ODI World Cup 2023.
1. Shakib Al Hasan
The most experienced player in the Bangladesh team currently is Shakib Al Hasan. The star allrounder has been the face of the team over the past few years. His consistency has helped him to be a permanent member of the team for almost 16 years. He has also captained the side multiple times earlier and the management might once again go with Shakib’s experience and appoint him as the captain.
2. Mushfiqur Rahim
The veteran wicketkeeper-batter of Bangladesh Mushfiqur Rahim is one of the most experienced and talented wicketkeeper-batter the team have ever seen. His records in the ODI format are enough to tell the player’s ability. Rahim has also led the team earlier, however, now, considering the experience he carries with him, the management might give him the captaincy role for the ODI World Cup.
3. Litton Das
Banglesh’s opening batter Litton Das recently led the team against Bangladesh in the ODI and T20I series and impressed a lot with his leadership skills. He helped the team to win the T20I series 2-0 while he also led the team for 2 ODI matches after Iqbal was ruled out after the first match. Das can be a great captain for Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup.
