In a special Christmas episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), the popular Indian quiz show, the audience was treated to the presence of cricket stars Smriti Mandhana and Ishan Kishan. The duo, prominent members of the Indian national cricket teams, showcased their knowledge and wit while engaging with the show’s host, Amitabh Bachchan.

Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, and Ishan Kishan, a dynamic wicketkeeper-batter in the men’s squad, displayed their camaraderie and sportsmanship as they embarked on the quiz journey. The episode, which marked the commencement of the grand finale week, was filled with suspense and excitement.

As the quiz progressed, Mandhana and Kishan used two lifelines to answer a question related to their sport correctly. The query was about the Indian cricketer who made his Test debut in the match where Sachin Tendulkar scored his first international century, which proved pivotal. The duo wisely utilised their lifelines and ultimately secured the correct answer—Anil Kumble.

Ishan Kishan opted out of the ongoing Test series in South Africa

The cricketing pair, however, decided to exit the game at question number 13, with a prize money of ₹12.5 lakh. Despite their competitive spirit, they opted to play it safe when faced with a challenging question, choosing not to risk their winnings.

Ishan Kishan, who recently returned from South Africa, made headlines by skipping the Test series due to mental fatigue. On the other hand, Smriti Mandhana played a crucial role in India’s historic victory against Australia in the Women’s Test. Contributing significantly with her bat, Mandhana scored 74 and 38 not out in two innings.

As fans eagerly await Smriti Mandhana’s return to the field for the upcoming ODI series against Australia, the KBC episode provided a delightful off-field interaction with the cricketers. The engaging quiz experience not only showcased their sporting knowledge but also highlighted the personalities behind the cricketing prowess of Smriti Mandhana and Ishan Kishan.
