India middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer doesn’t seem to be bothered with England’s Bazball approach ahead of the five-match Test series. The series will start on January 25 with the home team announcing their squad for the first two games at this point. On the other hand, the Three Lions have announced their team for the whole series

Iyer has managed to retain his place despite his poor batting in South Africa. Notably, the right-hander was rested for the ongoing three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. He is playing in the ongoing Ranji Trophy to prepare for the Test series. Meanwhile, about the Bazball approach, the Mumbaikar said that he doesn’t think what the opposition will do.

“To be honest, I don’t really think about what the opposition is going to do and what kind of mindset they are going to come with. It’s important we stick to our own plans and focus on our own abilities rather than concentrate much on our opponents. So, these are the small qualities we have to keep in mind and look forward to put our best foot forward and see to it that we seize the moment,” Iyer told JioCinema.

India Squad for First 2 Tests vs England:

Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan

ENGLAND SQUAD

Shreyas Iyer tacked short-pitched bowling against Andhra Pradesh

In the match against AP, Iyer hit a run-a-ball 48 for Mumbai.

“It was a nice experience. I wasn’t expecting much from myself to be honest, but I wanted to create a rhythm going forward into the five-Test matches. The intensity will be high. Also, to stand on the field for 90 overs takes a lot of effort, so it all started from here (match against Andhra Pradesh),” Iyer said.
