Rohan Bopanna scripted history by winning the men’s doubles finals in the Australian Open 2024. It is a huge win for the Indian Tennis player considering the fact that it is his maiden win in the Australian Open. At the age of 43, Rohan has become the oldest Grand Slam Champion in the history of the sport. It is a huge feat and Bopanna has made India proud.

Right from the first round, Rohan seemed to be with a different energy in the Australian Open 2024. Even his partner, Matthew Ebden, played well throughout the tournament. It is worth noting that even the Australian is aged 36. It makes the achievement of the duo a lot more praiseworthy. To beat players who are way too young than them is a huge feat in a physical sport like Tennis.

Against the seedless pair from Italy, the duo of Rohan and Ebden managed to hold their own in the serves. They gave away nothing in their service and did struggle a bit while receiving. Ebden did the hard work of covering the court by playing from behind. The duo beat the Italians in the tiebreaker without conceding a point in the first set. It gave the momentum for the duo from India and Australia.

In the 2nd set, Rohan was comfortable in breaking the serves. The Italian players did not seem to be under pressure. But the Indo-Aussie duo was better when the crucial points were to be won. In the end, the duo managed to win their maiden title as a pair. Bopanna became the oldest player to win a Grand Slam title, which happens to be his first at the Australian Open.
