The much-awaited contest between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan is set to take place on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams have clashed against each other 7 times in the grand event and all the 7 times the Men in Blue emerged victorious. It’d be interesting to see if they will be able to continue their winning streak or if Pakistan will produce a surprising performance this time.
Meanwhile, ahead of the major clash, more than 60 Pakistani journalists have received visas to cover the contest from India. There were some sports journalists who shared their disappointment for not getting visas to cover the ODI World Cup, however now that they have received the visas, they will be arriving in India soon. Fans have also reacted to this news on social media and given various reactions.
I am travelling to India to motivate the team: Zaka Ashraf
Apart from journalists, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf will also be attending the match. He is set to travel on October 12 to India. Ashraf also talked about the journalists getting visas and said that he delayed his travel to ensure that the journalists get their visas.
“I have delayed my travel to India, and I am travelling tomorrow after receiving confirmation that Pakistan’s journalists have been asked to submit their passports to obtain visas to cover the mega event. I am happy that my conversation with the foreign office helped in achieving a positive development regarding the visa delay,” Ashraf was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
“I am extremely pleased with the way the players have performed so far in the World Cup, winning both matches. The PCB management committee and the entire nation stand firmly behind the players for a successful campaign in the ongoing World Cup. I am travelling to India to motivate the team, and my message to them before the India contest will be to play fearlessly as they have been playing throughout the event,” he added.
