The Diljit Dosanjh Ludhiana controversy erupted following the Punjabi superstar’s New Year’s Eve performance during his Dil-Luminati Tour. The concert, held in Ludhiana, sparked a complaint accusing Dosanjh of promoting alcohol through his music.

Punditrao Dharenavar, a Chandigarh-based assistantw professor, lodged the complaint, urging authorities to ban specific tracks from the live performance. These songs, including “Patiala Peg,” “5 Taara,” and “Case,” allegedly glorify alcohol consumption.

As per ANI, the Deputy Director of the Women and Child Department, Punjab, issued a notice to Ludhiana’s District Commissioner. The notice demanded intervention to prevent Diljit from performing the contested songs, even with modified lyrics.

Legal and Social Concerns

Dharenavar cited previous warnings issued to the Border 2 actor by various commissions. Despite advisories, Dosanjh reportedly continued performing controversial songs with minor changes in lyrics. Dharenavar also referenced a 2019 Punjab and Haryana High Court ruling.
