‘Preparation Successful ‘– Fans react after Cheteshwar Pujara slams memorable double ton century for Saurashtra.
Veteran Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara has begun the Indian domestic season in terrific style. The 35-year-old scored a terrific double ton against the visiting Jharkhand side on Sunday. The knock comes at the right time as Indian selectors are set to meet soon. India’s squad for the first two Test Matches versus England is set to be announced soon.
India’s young sensation Shubman Gill hasn’t impressed after being promoted to the number three spot. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal have nailed the opening slot for India. There are major concerns about Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer’s form in Test Cricket. With Pujara coming back to form there are also questions if Rahane can be re-called.
Cheteshwar Pujara roars back to form –
It was a sight that many Indian Cricket fans had waited for. Cheteshwar Pujara slammed his way to a double century during the Indian Domestic season game against Jharkhand on Sunday. The veteran batter is looking to make his comeback to the Indian side after being dropped.
The last time Pujara played for India was during the World Test Championships final versus Australia. The right-handed batter wasn’t picked for the West Indies and South African tours. The moment came when Pujara tucked Shahbaz Nadeem for a quick single. There was a massive applause as skipper Jaydev Unadkat and the rest of the Saurashtra team seemed happy.
Pujara has played 27 Test versus England scoring 1774 runs with an average of 39.5. In fact his Test best score of 206 not out came against England during the 2012-13 series. Indian selectors have a huge task on their hands as they sit down to pick the team for the first two Tests.
Meanwhile, the selectors are set to announce the Indian side for the Afghanistan T20I series. Rohit Sharma is set to be back as the skipper of the side with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj like to be rested. There are questions if Virat Kohli too will be back in the side for the Afghanistan series.
Team India are in the same group as Pakistan along with Ireland, and Canada and hosts the USA. The marquee clash for the 2024 T20I World Cup is set to take place on June 9th in New York.

BCCI Faces Dilemma Over Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s Future
The BCCI is under pressure to address the futures of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as India’s cricket leaders. Recent debates among former cricketers, including Irfan Pathan and Sunil Gavaskar, highlight the board’s challenge in resolving this dilemma.
Reports suggest both Kohli and Sharma might not voluntarily step down despite questions over their recent performances. The board must decide on a transition plan without risking disruption in team dynamics. Gavaskar expressed concerns about senior players’ reluctance to retire on their terms. Pathan supported the sentiment, emphasizing the need for clear communication and strategic planning.
Kohli, known for his aggressive leadership and consistent batting, has faced scrutiny in recent months. Similarly, Sharma, the captain across formats, has dealt with mixed results on the field. While their contributions to Indian cricket remain undeniable, the question of grooming new leaders is gaining momentum.
The BCCI reportedly plans to assess performances during the upcoming England tour. A comprehensive evaluation will guide the decision on the duo’s roles in future campaigns. Selectors and the team management aim to strike a balance between respecting veterans and fostering new talent.
Experts believe that transparent discussions between the board, players, and coaching staff will help manage the transition smoothly. Introducing emerging players gradually can ensure continuity while preserving the legacy of Kohli and Sharma.
Indian cricket stands at a crossroads, where decisions today could shape its future trajectory. The resolution of this issue will determine the team’s competitiveness and long-term success.

Virat Kohli’s Selection for England Tour
Virat Kohli’s selection for the England tour has become a hot topic in Indian cricket. The star batter, known for his unmatched legacy, now faces questions about his form and consistency. Selectors must make a tough call before finalizing the squad.
Kohli remains determined to represent India and has ruled out retirement. Despite this, his recent performances in crucial matches have left much to be desired. Many experts believe the England tour will demand players in peak form, making the decision regarding Kohli’s inclusion more complicated.
The selectors’ challenge lies in balancing experience with performance. Kohli’s presence provides leadership and confidence to the younger players. However, the team also needs reliable contributions from all members, especially in challenging overseas conditions like England.
Transition words make discussions about Kohli’s selection even more nuanced. His iconic performances in the past earned him the tag of a match-winner, yet cricket is a game of the present. Younger players vying for opportunities might bring the energy and hunger required in such critical tours.
Fans and cricket experts remain divided. Some urge the selectors to back Kohli, believing he can regain his form. Others feel it’s time for India to focus on the next generation of cricketers. Regardless, the decision will significantly impact India’s preparation for the England series and beyond.
Virat Kohli’s selection remains central to Indian cricket discussions, as the world watches how selectors balance sentiment and strategy.

Australia Reclaims Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Ends India’s WTC Final Hopes
Australia wins BGT! Australia defeated India in the fourth Test at Sydney, winning the series 3-1 and reclaiming the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a decade. The victory also ended India’s hopes of reaching the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final.
India entered the match under immense pressure, needing a win to keep their WTC final hopes alive. However, Australia’s disciplined bowling and steady batting dashed India’s aspirations.
After choosing to bat first, Australia posted a challenging total of 394, with contributions from Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne. India struggled to counter Australia’s bowling attack, collapsing for 198 in their first innings. Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins led Australia’s bowling effort with sharp spells.
With a 196-run lead, Australia opted to bat again and declared at 201/6. Steve Smith’s half-century provided a solid foundation. Chasing 398, India faltered again, bowling for 215 on the fourth day. Despite Rishabh Pant’s counterattacking fifty, the hosts failed to build partnerships.
Nathan Lyon emerged as the star performer, finishing with match figures 10/78. His exceptional spin bowling proved too much for India’s batters to handle. Australia’s dominance throughout the series highlighted their all-around superiority.
This series win marks a significant achievement for Australia, reclaiming the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a ten-year wait. It also secured their spot in the WTC final, setting up a potential clash with South Africa or Sri Lanka. Australia wins BGT!
India’s campaign revealed several weaknesses, particularly in their middle-order batting and bowling consistency. Questions about team selection and strategy also surfaced, with calls for introspection ahead of future tours.
The result concludes a hard-fought series, where Australia showcased resilience and strategic brilliance. While India will reflect on their missed opportunities, Australia celebrates a long-awaited triumph.
