‘Parampara bani rehni chahiye’ – Fans react as Pakistan suffer embarrassing 360-run loss against Australia in 1st Test
Australia convincingly defeated Pakistan by 360 runs in the first Test of the three-match series at Perth Stadium on December 17, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. The match showcased stellar performances, notable partnerships, and a brilliant all-round display, with Mitchell Marsh emerging as the Player of the Match.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Australia laid the foundation for their victory with a commanding first innings total of 487 runs. David Warner, in sublime form, contributed significantly with a brilliant century. However, it was Pakistan’s Aamer Jamal who stole the show with an exceptional bowling display, claiming 6 wickets to disrupt the Kangaroos’ batting lineup.
In response, Pakistan struggled to match Australia’s intensity, posting a total of 271 runs in their first innings. Imam-ul-Haq emerged as the highest run-scorer for the Men in Green, showcasing resilience with his 62-run contribution. All the bowlers from the Australian side contributed well enough to get Pakistan bundled out under 300 runs.
Brilliant bowling performance by Australia
However, fans expected a better performance from Pakistan in Australia’s 2nd innings but despite glimpses of promise from Pakistani bowlers, a crucial partnership between Usman Khawaja and Marsh defied Pakistan’s attempts to stage a comeback. And Australia declared the innings on 233 runs.
Pakistan, faced with a daunting chase, succumbed to the relentless Australian bowling attack, managing only 89 runs in 30.2 overs. The Kangaroos’ bowlers orchestrated a clinical display, bundling out the Pakistani team and securing a resounding win.
Marsh’s all-round brilliance, both with the bat and ball, earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match accolade. His impactful performance played a pivotal role in securing Australia’s emphatic victory. As the series progresses, Australia will carry the momentum from this commanding victory into the next Test, while Pakistan will be eager to regroup and mount a comeback in their quest for redemption.
