‘Pakistan ki rooh aa gayi kya aaj’ – Fans react as India gets dismissed for 153 runs in first innings of Cape Town Test

SA vs IND (Source - Twitter)

India had an unreal collapse after the tea break. On the first day of the second Test of the series, India was dismissed for a score of 153 runs. It did not do any justice for the efforts put by the bowlers in the first session. For the most part, India looked good as a unit. But the 20-minute phase with the bat after the tea break totally shifted the momentum towards the home side.

India bowled first and dismissed South Africa for a total of just 55 runs in the first innings. The Indian bowlers took just 140 deliveries to get rid of the South African batters. Mohammad Siraj with the ball was exceptional as he registered career best figures of 6/15 in his 9-over spell. It marked the highlight of the day which has been dominated by the visiting team so far.

However, India could not enjoy the momentum for a long time. Despite being in a good position, India threw away a golden opportunity to have a game-changing lead. The likes of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill stitched a good partnership at the top. It was carried well by Virat Kohli who seemed to be in a good touch. At the end of the tea break, India was in a good position.

Clueless batting leads to collapse

India were 153/4 when KL Rahul and Virat were batting in the middle. What followed it was very tough to believe. India lost their next wickets without scoring a run. From 153/4, India was reduced to 153 All-out by the home side. Lungi Ngidi acted as a wrecker-in-chief. The seam bowler first dismissed KL Rahul who could not settle in the middle despite spending some time. Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for a silver duck by the right-arm pacer.

Jasprit Bumrah was undone in the second ball as well. In just 5 balls, Ngidi claimed 3 wickets. From the other end, Virat was dismissed too. A run out got the wicket of Siraj and Prasidh Krishna did not stay longer in the middle. It marked the end of the Indian innings. The support and the cheers from the home crowd seemed to help the South African side who made huge inroads into the game.
