The first semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023 is upon us and we are set to witness a huge game of cricket. India and New Zealand will play each other in a bid to become the first finalists of the tournament.

The famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will be the venue as a huge crowd is expected to turn out. England football legend David Beckham is set to be in attendance for the huge game along with other Indian famous names.

New Zealand qualified for the final four stages after finishing 4th in the table during the league phase stages. Rohit Sharma and his men went through the entire group phase stages unbeaten and would want to continue the same run of form.

Hazy conditions to prevail in Mumbai?

Mumbai has just witnessed Diwali being celebrated like the rest of the nation. The conditions will be hot, humid, and hazy during the day. The maximum temperature will be around 34 degrees while the minimum will be close to 26 degrees.

The pitch is expected to be a good surface for batting with the new ball. The pacers will get early help thanks to the breeze the ground will witness. As the game goes on and the ball becomes softer, expect the spinners to get a good amount of purchase.

Wankhede Stadium has seen some amazing games being played during the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. South Africa and India have posted above 350 plus scores and won easily during their respective games.

The last game at this venue was between Australia and Afghanistan which saw Glenn Maxwell steal the headlines. The 35-year-old scored 201 not out and helped his team win by three wickets.

Ibrahim Zadran had scored a century for his and helped them post 291 on the board. Chasing 292 to win, Australia was in dire straits at 91/7, Pat Cummins and Glenn Maxwell then added unbeaten 201 runs to seal the game for the Australians.

India’s last game at this venue was against Sri Lanka which saw India post 357 runs on the board. Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer scored half-centuries as Dilshan Madushanka picked five wickets for the Lankans. Chasing 358 to win, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 55 to give India a huge 302-run win with Shami picking 5/18.
