Indian skipper Rohit Sharma took questions from the media on Tuesday in Mumbai. The most asked question was if Virat Kohli would bowl during the semi-finals against the Kiwis. Rohit Sharma replied “As soon as Hardik got injured, our combination changed. Ever since game number 1, we wanted to use others to bowl as well.  It’s good to have options but I hope we will not have the situation to use it”

Hardik Pandya got injured during the India versus Bangladesh ODI World Cup 2023 game in Pune. The 30-year-old got injured on his follow-through when he went to stop a shot from Litton Das with his foot.

Despite his feeble attempts to bowl again, Hardik Pandya couldn’t finish the over. There was a huge roar from the crowd as Virat Kohli was given the ball and he finished off the over on that day.

During the India versus Sri Lanka game in Mumbai, there was a chorus of chants asking Rohit Sharma to let Virat Kohli bowl. The former Indian skipper turned around and folded his hands to the crowd to signal his reluctance.

On Sunday it was different as Virat Kohli was given the ball by Rohit Sharma. The first over went for 7 runs and could have fetched a wicket if only the edge found had a first slip in place. The third ball of Kohli’s second over saw KL Rahul take a smart catch to dismiss Scott Edward. Incidentally, Rohit Sharma also picked a wicket in the same bowling for the first time in 7 years.
