The Indian Cricket Board has finally shed light on the real reason behind the shocking exit of India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya from the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. In what came as a major blow to the Indian cricket team and its fans, it was revealed that Hardik sustained an ankle injury during a valiant effort in a match against Bangladesh in Pune.

During the contest against Bangladesh, Hardik made a remarkable attempt to stop the ball on his own bowling, displaying his commitment to the team’s cause. However, in doing so, he unfortunately injured his ankle. This injury turned out to be more severe than initially thought, and as a result, Hardik was unable to participate in the subsequent matches of the World Cup.

Prasidh Krishna is named Hardik Pandya’s replacement

The Indian cricket board clarified that Hardik’s injury did not involve any fractures, but rather a minor tear. Initially, he had resumed training after the injury, but a significant swelling developed in his left ankle, rendering him unfit to bowl.

“As it has been said earlier, Pandya doesn’t have any fracture and only had a minor tear. He had resumed training but suddenly considerable amount of swelling developed in left ankle region and he wouldn’t have been fit to bowl. This is not some injury which could be managed with injections. Considerable swelling resurfaced on Thursday and unless it subsides, he can’t do skills training for some more time.” an Indian Cricket Board official was quoted as saying by Cricket Addictor.

The absence of Hardik, known for his explosive batting and crucial contributions with the ball, left a significant void in the Indian team. His replacement with pacer Prasidh Krishna highlighted the urgency of the situation. The cricketing world now awaits Hardik Pandya’s return to full fitness and his comeback to international cricket, which is eagerly anticipated by fans and teammates alike.
