Naga Vamsi Clarifies Comments on Boney Kapoor During South Cinema Debate
The recent Naga Vamsi Boney Kapoor debate at a Galatta India roundtable stirred online conversations about respect and industry dynamics. During the discussion, the producers shared differing views on South Indian cinema’s impact on Bollywood.
Naga Vamsi stated that South Indian films have revolutionized Indian cinema. “We, South Indians, have changed the way Bollywood looks at cinema. Bollywood was stuck making films for Bandra and Juhu,” he remarked, citing blockbusters like Baahubali, RRR, and Jawan.
When Boney Kapoor expressed his disagreement, Vamsi interrupted, leading to online criticism about his tone. Trade analysts and filmmakers like Hansal Mehta and Sanjay Gupta accused Vamsi of being disrespectful.
Responding to these claims, Vamsi clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that his comments were taken out of context. He wrote, “There was no disrespect towards Boney Ji. It was a healthy discussion. We had a nice laugh and hugged after the interview.” He added that the South respects Boney Kapoor even more than Bollywood does.

Naga Vamsi, known for producing hits like Jersey, Bheemla Nayak, and Rang De, has several upcoming projects, including Guntur Kaaram, Tillu Square, and Daaku Maharaaj, releasing on January 12.
Boney Kapoor, a veteran in Bollywood, has delivered classics like Mr. India and Judaai. He recently produced Maidaan, starring Ajay Devgn, set to release on April 10, 2024.

Shankar’s much-anticipated Telugu film, Game Changer, will hit theatres on January 10, 2025, for Sankranthi. Starring Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, and SJ Suryah, the film is a political action thriller. Ram Charan plays dual roles as a political leader, Appanna, and an IAS officer, Ram Nandan. Kiara Advani plays his love interest, while Anjali stars as Appanna’s wife.
The recently released trailer gives a glimpse into the intense storyline. After a tragedy strikes, Ram Nandan aims to fulfill his father’s dream of a corruption-free country. However, his journey faces challenges from Bobbili Mopidevi, a corrupt CM portrayed by SJ Suryah.
The film also features Vennela Kishore, Naveen Chandra, Samuthirakani, and Prakash Raj in significant roles. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) awarded Game Changer a U/A certificate on January 2, 2025. The movie has a runtime of 2 hours and 45 minutes and will be released in multiple formats, including IMAX and Dolby Cinema.
The film is produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under the Sri Venkateswara Creations banner. Karthik Subbaraj wrote the story, while Thaman composed the music. Despite production delays, Game Changer is expected to be a major release.
Ram Charan took a significant pay cut to ease the film’s financial burden, accepting ₹90 crore in remuneration. The team also invested ₹75 crore in just four songs, underlining the film’s grand scale. This marks Ram Charan and Kiara Advani’s second collaboration after Vinaya Vidheya Rama. Fans are eagerly awaiting how this high-budget project performs at the box office.
