‘My workload is twice or thrice as anyone else’ – Hardik Pandya talks about his role as fast-bowling allrounder in Indian team
India didn’t see a proper fast-bowling allrounder after the legendary Indian captain Kapil Dev for a long time. However, the management’s search finally came to an end when Hardik Pandya started playing for the team. His performance in all 3 formats of the game both with bat and ball helped him to become one of the finest fast-bowling allrounders in the world.
Apart from his individual performance, Pandya has also impressed a lot with his captaincy skills due to which he will be seen playing as a vice-captain for the Indian team in the upcoming ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, Pandya recently said that his workload is twice or thrice as anyone else.
“As an all-rounder, my workload is twice or thrice as anyone else. When a batter in the team goes and bats and finishes his batting and is heading home, I’ll still be bowling after that. So for me, all the managing, all the pushing, and everything happens during the sessions or my training or my pre-camp season,” Pandya was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
There is no point in me bowling 10 overs: Hardik Pandya
Pandya recently displayed a phenomenal batting performance in the Asia Cup clash against Pakistan where he played a brilliant knock of 87 runs under pressure. The innings came when the top-order was destroyed by the Pakistani bowlers. However, he didn’t get to bowl as the game was washed out due to rain. Pandya talked about his bowling and said that there is no point in him bowling all the 10 overs.
“When the game arrives, it is more about whatever the team requires, and the managing side goes out of the park, and it is more practical calls that how many overs are needed for me. Because if 10 overs are not needed, there is no point in me bowling 10 overs, but if 10 overs are needed, then I’ll be bowling.
I always believed that I give myself a chance to succeed, which is by reading the game, which is by backing myself because I have always believed that when we go as a believer, when I’m standing there, yes, my ten players, my ten brothers are around me, but at the same point of time I’m alone.” he said.
