Speaking about the nervousness the 20-year-old said “Yes, I noticed that 4-5 players before me went unsold, so I was nervous at that time”. There were a few teams that had invited Sameer Rizvi for a few trial sessions, the youngster though had to skip a few sessions.
Shedding light on this, the young batter said “I got calls from all ten teams, but I had to move to the Under-23 side by then. That’s when they called me. So, because of matches, I couldn’t go. I could only attend camps of Punjab, RR, and RCB”
When asked about playing under MS Dhoni, the man from UP said “That’s a completely different feeling because he has always been my idol. I am very excited, yet nervous about the prospect of meeting him. I have never seen him in front of my eyes”
Not many know that youngster had given a trial to Mumbai Indians two years ago. On this the young batter remarked “When I appeared for the MI trials, I struggled with myself. I wouldn’t back myself. So, in the last two years I have focussed on improving myself and have been giving myself the confidence to back myself and play to my strengths. I don’t want to do anything just to show someone. So, I have regained my confidence.
