England’s captain, Jos Buttler, won the toss and elected to field, making it the first time that the Indian team is setting a target.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, India’s leading run-scorer in the tournament, failed to maintain his impressive form against England, getting dismissed for a duck. Kohli, eager to open his account after facing several dot balls, fell victim to a clever delivery from David Willey. The English bowler adjusted his length, and Kohli attempted a downtown shot, but he couldn’t connect well. The ball hit the top part of his bat and landed in the hands of short mid-off, where Ben Stokes made the catch with delight.
