Charlie Puth gave a perfect tribute to Matthew Perry who recently passed away. The singer and songwriter is known for coming up with such songs as tributes to the passed ones. In the past, Charlie had done the same after Paul Walker passed away. Back then, Charlie had collaborated with Wiz Khalifa to produce a song named ‘See you again’ as a tribute to the star of the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise.

Charlie Puth collaborated with the Country duo Treaty and The War and performed the stripped-down version of the theme song of ‘Friends‘. On the night of the 15th of January, Charlie and co-performed live for Perry at the 75th Emmy Awards. It became popular instantly as the fans started to share it on social media and got emotional about the same.

In front of several dignitaries who were present in the show, Puth teamed up with the husband-wife duo and delivered an outstanding performance. In the In Memoriam segment of the prestigious award ceremony, the three of them performed the sitcom’s theme song. It began with Puth performing the ‘See You Again’ song which was dedicated to Walker.

Unexpected death of Matthew Perry

Along with it, Puth also performed an acoustic cover of ‘I’ll Be There for You’ by The Rembrandts. On the 28th of December, Perry was found unconscious in the bathtub at his residence in Los Angeles. It was revealed that Perry died due to ‘Acute effects of Ketamine’. Sally Struthers and Rob Reiner gave the introduction for the special segment in the arena.

“We were part of a very unique family, not just the bunkers, but Norman Lear’s extended family,” said Reiner. Along with Perry, several other celebrities were also honored at the event. It includes the likes of Barbara Walters, Kirstie Alley, Andre Braugher, Bob Barker, and Suzanne Somers who all passed away in 2022 or later. The fans could still not get over the fact that Perry is no more after seeing the tribute to their favorite artists.
