India’s middle-order batter in Tests and ODI, KL Rahul might be available for the fourth Test against England in Ranchi. He has played only one game in the ongoing series and has been troubled with pain in his right quadriceps. After the first Test, he has been troubled with the same injury. When the Indian squad for the last three Tests was announced, Rahul was included and subjected to the fitness.

However, the right-hander was ruled out as he wasn’t match-fit enough. The Karnataka player was replaced by his state player, Devdutt Padikkal, who fielded for some time during the third Test in Rajkot last week. The home team ended up winning the game by 434 runs and lead the series by 2-1. Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that the Lucknow Super Giants skipper in the IPL might play in the Ranchi Test.

“As of now, it looks like KL Rahul is reaching his match fitness and will be available for the next game,” a top source in Board management told Sports Tak.

KL Rahul is set to replace Rajat Patidar

Rajat Patidar made his debut in Vizag, where the second Test was played. He batted at number four in both Tests in Vizag and Rajkot. The right-hander didn’t make much of an impact and might get replaced in the playing XI if Rahul is fit. In the first Test, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore player batted at number four and the will team prefer him over the two-Test-old Patidar in Ranchi.
The Three Lions need a win in the third Test to keep the series alive. They were leading the series at the end of January as they won the Hyderabad Test.

India Squad for the rest of the series: Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja*, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Devdutt Padikkal, KL Rahul (subjected to fitness).
