Three players who could potentially sit out due to KL Rahul’s return in Rajkot against England
KL Rahul is set to return to the Indian team in the third Test against England. Along with Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja might return as well. The duo has been undergoing recovery in NCA following their injuries at Hyderabad. Their comeback is expected to strengthen the Indian team further. Rahul will play a key role for India in the absence of the star batter like Virat Kohli, who is reported to take more time to return.
Rahul can keep the wickets as well, although India would not be too keen to ask him to keep the wickets in Indian conditions. The star batter has shown adaptability in Test cricket. He can bat anywhere from opening to number six. Hence, the right-handed batter can come in for anyone. India would not mind asking the inexperienced and out-of-form batters to sit out at the cost of Rahul, who has been brilliant in the last few months.
Here are the three players who could potentially sit out due to KL Rahul’s return in Rajkot against England.

3. Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill scored a hundred at Vizag and helped India to win the match. But given his failure in Test cricket over the last three years or so, India might consider dropping him. In that case, Rahul would either bat at three or bat at 5, so that Patidar could bat at his natural position of number three.
2. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer has not scored a big knock in Test cricket in the last 15 months. It is a genuine concern for the team. Iyer looks to be out of touch and has failed to convert the starts. Given the fact that other batters in the team are either inexperienced or have performed better than him in recent times, Iyer might have to make way for Rahul.
1. Rajat Patidar
Rajat Patidar could not make the most of his Test debut. While he was impressive, it is not good enough to be in the team. Given the fact that India would love to back their players, Patidar might be the one to miss out, as other players in the team have been performing well for a long time and might get the backing of the management.
