KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of second Test against England

India is set to miss the services of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja in the 2nd Test against England. The two players sustained injuries during the 1st Test match against England at Hyderabad. While Rahul suffering pain in the right quadriceps injury, Jadeja has sustained an injury in the hamstring. As a result, the duo has been ruled out of the 2nd Test against England at Vizag.

The Indian Cricket Board confirmed the same in its media advisory. “MEDIA ADVISORY January 29, 2024. England’s tour of India, 2023-24 Ravindra Jadeja & KL Rahul ruled out of the second Test Mr Ravindra Jadeja and Mr KL Rahul have been ruled out of the second IDFC First Bank Test against England in Vizag, starting February 02, 2024,” said the Indian Cricket Board in their statement.

It was added that the duo has been monitored by the Indian Cricket Board. The fitness of the two is likely to get better in the upcoming days. But nothing can be said of certainty. In the absence of the two players, the Indian Cricket Board has also announced the replacements of the players. It is worth noting that there are three players added to the Indian squad.

Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar added to India’s squad

Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, and Sourabh Kumar have been added to the Indian squad in the absence of the star cricketers. Sundar was in the squad of India A in the series against England Lions. Since he has been added to the main squad, Saransh Jain has been named the replacement of the All-Rounder in the India A’s squad. The Indian Cricket Board confirmed the same in its statement.

In its statement, the Indian Board also spoke about the status of Avesh Khan. It was revealed that Avesh would travel with his Ranji Trophy team. It was added that Avesh might join the Indian squad in case of a necessity. “Avesh Khan will continue to travel with his Ranji Trophy team, Madhya Pradesh and will join the Test squad if required,” added the Indian Cricket Board in their statement.
