‘Wah great expectation’ – Fans react to Ravindra Jadeja hoping for Ravichandran Ashwin to get his 500 Test wicket during Hyderabad Test

Team India finished the first day of the opening Test in Hyderabad in a strong position. England was bowled out for just 246 runs on the board thanks to Jadeja and Ashwin picking three wickets.

In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal batted on 76 runs off 70 balls with the help of 9 fours and 3 sixes. Rohit Sharma was out for 27 while Shubman Gill was giving him company on 14. Ben Stokes was the top scorer for England with 70 runs.

At the end of the day, Ravindra Jadeja said “hope Ravi Ashwin gets his 500th Test wicket in this match. I’m left with 25 wickets for 300 and it might take the whole series, but I wish Ashwin completes his milestone in this game itself and continues taking wickets for India”.

India ends day one in a strong position

Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bat first during the opening game of the India vs England series. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley gave their team a great start and added 55 runs in just 12 overs.

Rohit Sharma introduced spin early and it paid immediate results. Ravi Ashwin got his 491st wicket when he had Ben Duckett out for 35. Ollie Pope was the next to go when he was caught by Indian skipper Rohit Sharma for 20. The third wicket came when Ashwin had Zak Crawley caught by Siraj for 20 to leave England at 60 for 3.

Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow made sure no further damage was done as England went to lunch at three down. After the lunch break, it was Axar Patel who got the first wicket when he bowled Bairstow for 37.

Ravindra Jadeja got his second in the day when he had Joe Root caught by Bumrah for 29. Axar Patel struck for a second time when he had Ben Foakes caught behind for 4. Ben Stokes meanwhile waged a lone battle as he scored 70 runs. Jasprit Bumrah then bowled Stokes to end the innings and bowl out the visitors for 246.
