Australia skipper Pat Cummins has taken three consecutive five-wicket hauls against Pakistan in the ongoing three-match Test series. In the second Test played in the last week of 2023 (Boxing Day Test), he took a 10-for for the game (five wickets each in both innings). Both spells proved crucial as the Asian side was going ahead in the game. In the first innings, in reply to Australia’s 318, the Shaheens were going well with 124/1.

However, thanks to Cummins’ five wickets for 48 runs, the visitors were bowled out for 264. With this, the World Test Championship holders got a lead of 64 runs. Despite losing four for 16 runs, they managed to get 262 runs, asking Pakistan to chase 317 runs. In the last innings, the Shan Masood-led side was going well with 219/5, needing 98 runs to win in Australia after 1994.

However, once again, Cummins took a five-wicket haul and helped the team win the game by 79 runs. With this, they have managed to win the series 2-0 with the ongoing third Test to go.

In the ongoing New Year’s Test match, the Shan Masood-led side won the toss and elected to bat first. Once again, their batting collapsed, and lost four wickets for 47 runs. Cummins took the wickets of Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel. After this, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha scored a fifty each and took the team to over 200 runs.

The Aussie skipper took the wickets of Rizwan, Sajid Khan, and Hasan Ali to reduce the opposition to 227/9. However, Ameer Jamal, who made his debut in the ongoing series, is batting with Mir Hamza and has put together 37 runs and counting with the latter batting on naught and Jamal batting on 40.
