Indian cricket team are currently busy playing a 3-match T20I series in Ireland and they have also won the first match of the series as well. The team is being led by India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has made a comeback into the team after almost a year. However, many senior players aren’t a part of India’s squad against Ireland as they are gearing up for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.

The tournament is set to be kicked off on August 30 and will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, an image is getting viral on social media in which Indian skipper Rohit Sharma can be seen running and working on his fitness before entering the tournament. Many fans have reacted to the image and praised Rohit for his dedication.

Rohit is a great guy, but he cripples during captaincy: Shoaib Akhtar

Apart from Rohit’s captaincy, the fans are also hoping for Rohit to get some big scores in the Asia Cup as after the conclusion of the tournament, the mega ODI World Cup 2023 is set to be played in India on October 5. Meanwhile, former legendary Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar recently talked about Rohit and said that he panics during captaincy.

“There was once a guy who would take the entire team’s pressure upon himself – that was Dhoni. Only a captain can shield the entire team behind him. Rohit is a great guy, but he cripples during captaincy, he panics. These might be harsh words, but I don’t think he should have taken up the captaincy.” Akhtar was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.

“Even Virat Kohli isn’t as talented as him. The timing he has and the shots he can play…he is a classical batter – but was he made for captaincy? I question myself most of the time. Does he react well in most of critical situations? I question myself. He should also be questioning it”. He added.
