WATCH: Jasprit Bumrah’s lethal first over after his comeback into International cricket against Ireland
Ireland had a terrific run in the European Region Qualifiers in July, and as a result, they were able to secure a spot in the 2024 T20 World Cup. In the upcoming three-match T20I series against a young Indian team that will be captained by a fully recovered Jasprit Bumrah, they will now be attempting to maintain their comeback. On Friday, August 18, at the Malahide Cricket Club Ground in Dublin, the first T20I will be contested.
The match was eagerly anticipated as the Indian skipper Bumrah was making a comeback into international cricket after almost 11 months. The skipper also did not waste any time to get into action as the speedster began the havoc by picking up two wickets in the first over of the match itself. The star India pacer picked up with the wickets of Andrew Balbirnie (4) and Lorcan Tucker (0).
Bumrah looked lethal after in his comeback match as the pacer bowled in the right areas as well as swung the ball in both directions and also bowled with great pace. The star India pacer’s comeback couldn’t have happened at a better time, given the upcoming ODI World Cup and the Asia Cup 2023. Players must perform at their absolute best in these mega-tournaments, and Bumrah’s presence will surely change the game for India.

I was always preparing for a World Cup competition: Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah clarified that even though his return may have been in the shortest format, he carefully trained for longer stretches during his rehabilitation. Additionally, the flamboyant bowler revealed how many overs he bowled. Bumrah noted that, while recuperating, he also worked out with his Gujarat state team.
“In my rehabilitation as well, I was never prepared for a T20 game, I was always preparing for a World Cup competition… so I have been bowling 10, 12.. even 15 overs. I have bowled more overs so it becomes easier to bowl less than what is required. I am not holding back, the body feels good and I’m looking forward to the games coming up,” Bumrah stated speaking at a press conference.
