India’s star cricketer and premium pacer Mohammed Shami delivered a dream performance in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 where he picked up 24 wickets in just 7 matches and ended up as the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. Shami has been doing wonders for the Indian team for a while now and fitness is one of the main reasons behind his sky-rocket performance.
Shami recently revealed that no one in the Indian Cricket team lifts more than him in the gym. The right-handed pacer said that he lifts up to 750 kg in leg press. However, as soon as fans got to know about this, they were shocked and their reactions were enough to express their thoughts. Check out some fans’ reactions at the end of the article.
“No other cricketer lifts heavier weights than me in the gym, I don’t like to post on social media so people don’t know. I can do a 750KG leg press,” Shami was quoted as saying by India.com.
Mohammed Shami picked up 7 wickets in the semi-final against New Zealand
Shami was phenomenal throughout the World Cup but his performance in the semi-final against New Zealand was the highlight of his campaign in the tournament. He picked up 7 wickets while conceding only 57 runs and helped the Indian team to qualify for the finals.
However, he couldn’t replicate the same in the final match against Australia as the Kangaroos defeated the Men in Blue by 6 wickets with the help of Travis Head’s magnificent century. Many hearts were broken that day as India were unbeaten before the final and were favourites.
Coming back to Shami, the star pacer’s name is likely to be given for the Arjuna Award after his wonderful performance in the World Cup. It won’t be wrong to say that he truly deserves India’s most prestigious sports award, however, only time will tell if he will get it or not.
