‘Isko bhi captain banna tha shayad’ – Fans react as Jasprit Bumrah posts cryptic tweet after he unfollows Mumbai Indians’ social media handles
India’s premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah was one of the star performers for the Indian team in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023. Providing a great start to the team by taking initial breakthroughs or putting pressure on the opponents with an economical bowling performance, Bumrah did everything in the tournament.
The right-hander bowler was the 4th highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 20 wickets in 11 matches. He also picked up 2 wickets in the final match against Australia but that wasn’t enough for the team as India lost the must-win game by 6 wickets and failed to lift the trophy for the 3rd time.
Meanwhile, Bumrah recently posted a cryptic tweet on the popular micro-blogging site X (formerly known as Twitter). The post says, “Silence is sometimes the best answer.” Fans are speculating why Bumrah tweeted this, however, there are some social media users who believe that Bumrah is not happy with the rumours about Hardik Pandya becoming Mumbai Indians’ captain.

We are thrilled to welcome Hardik back home: Nita Ambani
The rumours have sparked after some fans noticed that the pacer has unfollowed Mumbai Indians’ official handles on social media. The fans are now saying that the return of Hardik to the franchise didn’t go well with Bumrah as he wanted to replace Rohit Sharma as the next captain of the team.
Hardik was recently traded from Gujarat Titans (GT) to MI in a massive INR 15 crore deal. Meanwhile, MI’s owner Nita Ambani talked about the return of Hardik to the franchise. She said that the franchise is thrilled to welcome Hardik to the team.
“We are thrilled to welcome Hardik back home! It’s a heartwarming reunion with our Mumbai Indians family! From being a young scouted talent of Mumbai Indians to now being a team India star, Hardik has come a long way and we’re excited for what the future holds for him and Mumbai Indians!” she said.
Here’s how fans reacted:
