‘India ka future safe lag raha hai’ – Fans react as Yashasvi Jaiswal scores his 2nd double century in Test series against England
Yashasvi Jaiswal has slammed the second Test double-century in the 5-match series against England. In the 3rd Test match going on in Rajkot, Jaiswal scored 214 runs off 236 balls. This will be a memorable series for Jaiswal as he becomes the 2nd batter at the age of 22 to score more than 500 runs in a Test series. Currently, India has taken a lead of 556 runs and has declared the innings. Along with Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan scored a half-century (68) in the second innings.
With this, he scored two consecutive half-centuries in both innings. Along with them, Shubman Gill also scored 91 runs off 151 balls. As the Rajkot pitch was flat, India won the toss and decided to bat first. In the first innings, they scored 445 runs along with Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma’s century. Both scored 131 and 112 runs respectively while Sarfaraz Khan scored 62 runs off 66 balls. For England, Mark Wood took four wickets and Rehman Ahmed took two wickets.
England started their innings with a positive approach but could not maintain the momentum throughout the match. Thus, the team was dismissed on 319 runs. Moreover, Ben Duckett scored 153 runs off 151 balls. He was in amazing form and played well throughout the innings. Mohammed Siraj took four wickets while Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each.
Yashasvi Jaiswal completes 500 runs in Test series against England
In the 5-match Test series against England, Yashasvi Jaiswal has already scored 500 runs. Moreover, he becomes the second batter to have achieved this milestone at the age of 22. Before him, Sunil Gavaskar was the one who reached 500 runs in a series at the age of 22. Apart from this, Jaiswal also became the player to have scored the most runs by a left-handed batter in a Test series for India.
In the second innings, before scoring the half-century, Jaiswal was playing like a proper Test batter. However, the closer he moved to his half-century, the quicker he started scoring. He was also injured when before the end of day 3. However, after Gill’s dismissal on day 4, he came back to bat and scored a double-century. Since India has taken a lead of 556 runs, it will be interesting to see how the English batters will play.
