IND vs ENG 2024: Two players set for debut in Rajkot during 3rd Test vs England
Team India is set to have two new debutants during the third Test in Rajkot starting on Thursday. Sarfaraz Khan is set to play his first Test along with young Dhruv Jurel. KL Rahul has already been ruled out of the Test match. It is believed that Devdutt Padikkal is set to replace the 31-year-old.
The impending debut cap marks a long wait for Sarfaraz Khan after his tall run scoring in domestic cricket. The 26-year-old has been in good nick with the bat during the recent series against England lions.
KS Bharat is set to be axed after his less-than-impressive batting feats so far. The 30-year-old has failed to post a single half-century ever since his debut. Playing in front of his home crowd in Vizag, Bharat failed to score with the bat once again.
Debut cap after years of toil for Sarfaraz Khan –
Thursday is going to be a special day for Sarfaraz Khan and his fans. The 26-year-old is set to make his India debut during the Rajkot Test versus England. The news came after an Indian cricket board source had confirmed it to Indian Express.
KL Rahul’s injury meant that Sarfaraz Khan is set to finally get the long-awaited India cap. The source in question said “Sarfaraz will be making his debut. As KL has been ruled out for this Test, Sarfaraz will be getting his first game”
Ahead of making his Test debut, Sarfaraz Khan spoke to the official channel of Indian Cricket. “The game is all about patience. If we have to play Test cricket, we have to be patient. In life, there are times when we rush ourselves. I would get emotional about my wait to get into the team. My father always told me to keep working hard and you’ll be unstoppable. Having self-belief and patience is very important”
Giving credit to his father, this is what Sarfaraz said “More than myself, I am happy for my father. In a country that boasts such a huge population, it is a proud feeling to be part of the Indian team”
Meanwhile, Dhruv Jurel is set to become the latest entrant into the Indian team as well. A source from the Indian board said to the media “Bharat’s batting has been well below par, while his keeping hasn’t been great either. He isn’t making use of chances. Jurel, on the other hand, is talented, has a good attitude and has a bright future”
