In the third Test match versus England, Indian wicketkeeper KS Bharat may have to be benched, while Dhruv Jurel, who will play in the next three matches against England, will be making his Test debut in Rajkot. With a maximum score of 44 runs in his seven Test matches thus far, Bharat has only amassed 224 runs. However, Jurel has had a stellar domestic career thus far, appearing in 15 games having scored 790 runs.

A senior Indian Cricket Board official told Times of India, he said, “Bharat’s batting has been well below-par, while his ‘keeping hasn’t been great either. He isn’t making use of his chances. Jurel, on the other hand, is talented, has a good attitude and has a bright future. He has done well for Uttar Pradesh, India A and the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Don’t be surprised if Jurel makes his Test debut at Rajkot.”

In addition, Virat Kohli, the great batsman for India, would be absent from the entire Test series versus India. Although they are on the team, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja’s participation is contingent upon their level of fitness.

Why is Ishan Kishan not in the squad?

Halfway into the all-format tour of South Africa in December, Kishan asked to be dismissed from the squad for personal reasons. Before the T20 World Cup, the think tank was focused on Jitesh Sharma as an end-overs finisher, and by then, he had conceded his T20I position to him.

During the three 50-over contests, KL Rahul, the appointed captain, was almost guaranteed to wear the big gloves. Additionally, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer were all on their maiden tours of South Africa. All of them included had a lot of inexperience as the batting group. Even if only temporarily, KL Rahul was expected to serve as the Test wicketkeeper as well.
