‘IPL me comeback hoga ab iska’ – Fans react as as Shreyas Iyer’s Test selection comes under scrutiny, reports claim he is dropped from the squad
Shreyas Iyer is reported to have been dropped from India’s Test squad against England. The middle-order batter has not had a great time in Test cricket in the last year or so. In the period, Iyer has not been able to score even a fifty. Even in the ongoing series against England, Iyer could not bat well and proved not very useful with the bat.
India announced its squad for the first two Tests of the series against England initially due to various reasons. After so many injuries that occurred later in the series. The decision of the Indian Cricket Board seemed sensible. Earlier today, India announced the squad for the rest of the series. Virat Kohli has been ruled out of the entire series against England.
The other big news from the Indian squad was Iyer getting ruled out. A few days ago, it was reported that Iyer suffered from back stiffness and groin injury. While many believe that Iyer getting ruled out of the series was a result of his injury, others believe him to have been dropped. The latest reports claim that Iyer has been dropped from the Test team.
Indian Cricket Board not courageous enough to mention the reason behind dropping players?
There has been an opinion from the fans that the Indian Cricket Board is not courageous enough to mention the reason behind dropping some of its players. Fans claim that India uses ‘excuses like Back spasms and niggles’ to cover up the failures of some of their cricketers. There has been a popular opinion among the fans that players are not told of the proper reason for getting dropped from India.
Iyer would be looking forward to making a comeback in the IPL 2024 for KKR in order to be in the reckoning to get selected in India’s squad for the T20 WC 2024 which is set to happen in the month of June later this year. The performance of the players in the IPL 2024 matters. KKR have not had a good season in the last two years. Iyer would be looking to change that.

“Dropped” is the correct word.
BCCI was playing around using excuses like injury etc when everyone knew what actually the reason is …
