‘He proved SRK wrong’ – Kamal R Khan compares Ranbir Kapoor with Shahrukh Khan amid Animal’s huge success

KRK compares Ranbir with SRK

After having a blockbuster start, Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal crosses the 350 crore mark in the worldwide collection. He became the second actor after Shahrukh Khan to get into the 350 Cr club in the first three days of release. Ranbir’s amazing performance on the silver screen has been lauded by fans on social media.

Meanwhile, infamous movie critic Kamal R. Khan, aka KRK, has praised Ranbir too. He also compared him with Shahrukh Khan and said that Ranbir proved Shahrukh wrong. KRK believes Sharukh is not the last star of the stars, as Ranbir has proven him wrong. However, fans disagree with him, as they asked him to refrain from making any comparisons.

KRK said in a tweet, “Ranbir Kapoor has proved #SRK wrong, at least for one of his quotes. Today, Ranbir Kapoor can say proudly that SRK is not the last star of stars.” Earlier, he had requested that Adi Chopra make a film with both Sahrukh and Ranbir. “Now Adi Chopra should make a film called #AnimalVsJawan, and that film will do ₹1000 crore box office in India only,” KRK tweeted.

“Big production house can’t make you a superstar,”, says KRK

It’s worth noting that KRK has been one of the biggest critics of Bollywood. While praising the Animal movie, KRK took a jibe at Karna Johar and Dharma Production, saying big banners can’t make superstars but a big film can.

He said, “I always tell all the actors that a big production house can’t make you a superstar. Only a big film can make you a superstar. Karan Johar and Adi Chopra were not able to make Ranbir Kapoor a super star, but new film maker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has made him a super star.”

It’s worth noting that Animal had a great growth of around 8.9% in business on Sunday, as the film earned a total of 356 crore INR worldwide. It also had a great day in South India, where it crossed the 10 crore INR mark and had a great time. Ranbir’s biggest test will be on Monday, as it’s a working day and the film might take a dip.

Bollywood’s Most Successful Khan: Irrfan Khan’s Stellar Legacy

Bollywood’s most successful Khan isn’t Shah Rukh, Salman, or Aamir but the late Irrfan Khan. This surprising revelation emerges when we consider global box office collections. While the three Khans have dominated Hindi cinema, Irrfan’s Hollywood career elevates his earnings beyond theirs.

Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan are undeniably Hindi cinema’s top box office draws. Collectively, their films have grossed ₹22,000 crore worldwide. Shah Rukh leads with ₹9000 crore, followed by Salman with ₹7000 crore, and Aamir with ₹6500 crore. However, Irrfan Khan’s films have earned over ₹24,500 crore globally, largely due to his significant Hollywood contributions.

Irrfan’s Indian films, including hits like Paan Singh Tomar and Life in a Metro, grossed just over ₹2000 crore. Yet, his Hollywood roles in blockbusters like Jurassic World and Life of Pi added over $2.5 billion (₹22,500 crore) to his career tally. These figures place him ahead of his Bollywood contemporaries, despite his supporting roles in many international projects.

The argument may arise that Irrfan didn’t always play lead roles in these Hollywood hits, unlike Shah Rukh, Salman, or Aamir, who headlined most of their films. However, Irrfan’s Hollywood journey—marked by his ability to shine alongside global stars like Chris Pratt, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Hanks—underscores his unmatched versatility.

From critically acclaimed performances in Hindi films like Maqbool to his breakthrough in Slumdog Millionaire, Irrfan’s journey showcases his global appeal. His memorable roles in films like Inferno and Puzzle further cement his legacy. Diagnosed with cancer in 2018, Irrfan passed away in 2020, leaving behind an extraordinary body of work.

Though unconventional, Irrfan Khan’s career trajectory and global success redefine what it means to be Bollywood’s most successful Khan. His legacy as a cinematic icon continues to inspire audiences worldwide.

Baby John Movie Review: Action-Packed but Predictable

Baby John movie review

Baby John movie review: All action films share a common template—revenge and redemption with a powerful antagonist. Baby John, starring Varun Dhawan, attempts to follow this formula but struggles to leave a lasting impression.

The story introduces Baby John, living peacefully with his daughter Khushi in Kerala. A flashback reveals his past as IPS officer Satya Varma, a righteous man devastated by a tragic crime involving a powerful figure, Nanaji (Jackie Shroff). The narrative focuses on Satya’s transformation and quest for justice, mirroring the 2016 Tamil hit, Theri.

The film begins on shaky ground. The first 40 minutes lack direction, and the interactions between John and his daughter fall flat. Director Atlee, known for hits like Jawan, reuses elements such as double roles and pigeons, but these fail to create the desired impact. However, things pick up towards the intermission with a well-crafted action sequence.

Varun Dhawan, in his first full-fledged action role, delivers commendable punches and pulls off intense scenes, aided by Sunil Rodrigues’ action choreography and Thaman S’s electrifying background score. Unfortunately, Thaman’s songs feel uninspired and disrupt the narrative.

The film’s second half redeems some of its earlier flaws. Rajpal Yadav as Ramsevak provides comic relief, and Jackie Shroff excels as the formidable antagonist, adding weight to the climax. Wamiqa Gabbi as Tara and Keerthy Suresh as Satya’s wife contribute adequately but leave minimal impact.

While Baby John entertains with its action sequences and gripping second half, it falters with a sluggish start, dull music, and predictable plotlines. The movie’s reliance on clichés and overused cameos like Salman Khan’s doesn’t help.

If you’re a fan of masala potboilers, Baby John is worth a watch, provided you can endure its slow moments.
