‘Gym me bhi yellow jersey’ – Fans react as Ruturaj Gaikwad sweats out in gym ahead of Ireland tour for 3-match T20I series

The Indian cricket team are currently busy in the ongoing 5-match T20I series against West Indies. After this, they will tour Ireland for a 3-match T20I series where the no. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side while Ruturaj Gaikwad is named as the vice-captain of the team.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Ireland tour, a picture is getting viral on social media in which Gaikwad can be seen working out in a gym. Many fans have reacted to the image and have praised the right-hander for working on his fitness while there were also some fans who have trolled him and said that why is he working out to play against a weak team.

Interestingly, Gaikwad will also be seen playing in the upcoming Asian Games 2023 and surprisingly, the Indian Cricket Board has named him as the captain for the major tournament. Only youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh and many others are included in the squad for the Asian Games. Gaikwad was part of the Indian Test team for the recently concluded Test series but he didn’t get to play a single match.

However, India’s veteran left-handed batter Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t find a place in the team. He recently talked about the same and expressed his disappointment. But he also said that he is happy for Gaikwad and wished all the boys to do well in the tournament.

“When my name was not there (for Asian Games), I was a bit shocked. But, then, I was like they have a different thought process, you just have to accept it. Happy that Rutu (Gaikwad) will lead the side. All the young boys are there, I am sure they will do well,” Dhawan was quoted as saying by Cricket Addictor.
