‘Gives the glimpse of Virender Sehwag’ – Fans praise Yashasvi Jaiswal for registering double hundred against England in 2nd Test

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal reached his maiden double hundred in Test cricket. The Southpaw got to the milestone by hitting a couple of sixes on a trot and a boundary like a flash. In the process, the youngster became the first Indian batter since Virat Kohli in 2019 to score a double hundred for India in Test cricket. It is a huge feat for the talented batter.

In 2019, Kohli scored an unbeaten 254 against South Africa at Pune. Despite being the captain, Kohli decided to declare the Indian innings then and there. The move of the star batter was praised a lot by the fans and is remembered even today. For the first time in more than four and a half years, another Indian batter has scored more than 200 runs.

India continued the 2nd day after ending the 1st day with a score of 336/6. Ravichandran Ashwin played some shots in the middle. James Anderson was brilliant in the first hour. The experienced pacer troubled both Jaiswal and Ashwin in his spell. The seam position of the workhorse was pronounced and gave little to no room for the Indian pair to dominate.

Third youngest Indian batter to score a Test double

After hitting a couple of boundaries, Ashwin was undone by Jimmy with a terrific delivery. It meant that Jaiswal had to take risks in order to get to the milestone of double hundred. The Indian opener did exactly that. He first stepped out of the crease and hit Shoaib Bashir for a huge six in the long on. He followed it up with yet another six and a four to get to his maiden 200 in Tests.

The youngster was all over the moon as soon as he got to the landmark. Jaiswal became the third youngest Indian batter to score a 200 in Tests. Vinod Kambli had reached the landmark at the age of 21 years and 55 days. Likewise, Sunil Gavaskar got there in 21 years and 283 days. Yashasvi has taken 22 years and 37 days to reach the milestone. The Indian batter perished after scoring 209 runs in 290 balls.

Nepal Premier League Final

Nepal Premier League Final! Janakpur Bolts clinched the inaugural Nepal Premier League title by defeating Sudurpaschim Royals in a thrilling final. The Bolts showcased remarkable resilience, chasing down a target of 187 runs with five wickets in hand at the TU International Cricket Ground.

Sudurpaschim Royals, batting first, set a competitive total of 184 for nine wickets, led by Saif Zaib and Binod Bhandari. Zaib scored a solid 69 runs, while Bhandari added a crucial 41. However, their middle order failed to capitalize on a strong start, succumbing to disciplined bowling from Janakpur’s attack.

Kishor Mahato and Mohammad Mohisin starred with the ball for Janakpur, each claiming three wickets. Lalit Rajbanshi bowled an exceptional spell, conceding just 15 runs, including a maiden over. Their efforts restricted Sudurpaschim from posting a more imposing total.

In response, Janakpur’s Lahiru Milantha led the charge with a stunning 87 runs off 49 balls, including six fours and as many sixes. His innings anchored the chase, despite early pressure from Sudurpaschim’s bowlers. Aasif Sheikh, the Janakpur captain, played a vital supporting role, ensuring a composed finish.

This victory is a milestone for Nepali cricket, highlighting the league’s competitiveness and its potential to elevate local talent. Fans celebrated the intense final, hopeful for the league’s promising future.
