Former Indian legendary skipper MS Dhoni had to face the ire of one of his former teammates. The player in question is none other than Manoj Tiwary who played a few games for the Indian team till 2015.

The 38-year-old recently retired from domestic cricket after Bengal were dumped out of the playoff races. Manoj Tiwary was the captain of Bengal and left the game with a stellar record.

Making his debut in 2008, Manoj Tiwary scored a duck on debut. His biggest moment for India came during the 2011 ODI series against West Indies. His only century came during the final ODI in Chennai. The former Indian star also played three T20I matches before his career ended in 2015.

The former Bengal skipper Manoj Tiwary didn’t hold himself back while calling out former India skipper MS Dhoni. The 38-year-old former India batter made these comments during an interview with News18 Bangla.

“I want to hear from him whenever I get the opportunity. I will ask this question. I would like to ask Dhoni why I was dropped from the team after scoring the century, especially in that tour of Australia where nobody was scoring runs, neither was Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma or Suresh Raina. I have nothing to lose now” asked Manoj Tiwary.

Despite scoring over 10,000 runs in domestic cricket in the red ball format, Manoj Tiwary never got a Test Debut. While addressing this issue, Manoj Tiwary highlighted how he was snubbed as selectors picked Yuvraj Singh.

“When I had completed playing 65 first-class matches, my batting average was around 65. The Australia team had toured India then, and I had scored 130 in a friendly game, then I scored 93 against England in a friendly game. I was very close, but they picked Yuvraj Singh instead. So Test cap and the fact that I was ignored after getting the Man of the Match award for scoring a hundred…I was ignored for 14 straight matches. When self-confidence is at its peak and someone destroys that, it tends to kill that player” said the former Bengal skipper.

It is to be noted Manoj Tiwary and MS Dhoni played a season of IPL together in Pune in 2016. In 98 IPL matches, Tiwary scored 1695 runs with a best of 75 and 7 half-centuries. He was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team that won its first-ever IPL title in 2012.
