The Kerala police in Kannur district have registered a cheating case against former India cricketer S Sreesanth and two others. The complaint, filed by Sareesh Gopalan from Choonda, alleges that the accused individuals, Rajiv Kumar and Venkatesh Kini, duped him of INR 18.70 lakh on various dates starting April 25, 2019.

The trio claimed to be establishing a sports academy in Kollur, Karnataka, with Sreesanth as a partner. According to Gopalan’s complaint, he invested the money based on the promise of becoming a partner in the proposed sports academy. However, the unfolding events reveal a deceptive property deal that has landed the cricketer and his associates in legal trouble.

The accused trio, including Sreesanth, now faces charges under IPC Section 420, which pertains to cheating and dishonestly inducing the delivery of property. This marks Sreesanth as the third accused in the case, adding a layer of complexity to the legal proceedings.

Sreesanth has faced a fixing case in past

The case revolves around financial transactions and promises related to the establishment of a sports academy, raising questions about the credibility of the venture. As the investigation unfolds, the accused individuals will need to address the charges brought against them, and the legal process will determine the outcome of this case.

Sreesanth, once a prominent figure in Indian cricket, has faced controversies in the past, notably being involved in the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scandal, which resulted in a ban from the sport. Now, with these cheating allegations, his reputation is once again under scrutiny.

The unfolding legal proceedings will shed light on the intricacies of the case and determine the culpability of the accused. For now, Sreesanth and his associates find themselves entangled in a legal battle that could have significant consequences on their personal and professional lives.
